Polishing and Sanding

It seems with working on the Shasta it is mostly polishing and sanding.

This weekend I washed away 49 years of grim off the windows. After washing the windows Bill and I placed clear vinyl seal on the window edges of each pane. This is designed to help prevent drafts. I also think it will protect each pane. No more glass on glass.

I also put new weatherstrip pile along the edge of the window. This too helps prevent drafts.

I used a small screwdriver and slide the pile into the groove and pushed it into place.
I do recommend you slowly close the window. It may not close at first so you may need to open and close slowly several times to help to assist the window to close. Don't force the window to close.  This helps the pile to fit into the groove better.
The rest of the weekend was spent sanding the birch with steel wool to prep it for the second coat of shellac. And I polished on the aluminum trim on the door frame. It's only about 1/2 complete.
